The brain is amazing. There are over 100 Billion neurons in a normal brain.* Most of these neurons connect with other neurons. This gives us the ability to think, behave, and function. When they die some of our abilities die too. Most of us do not want this to happen. So how do we prevent these neurons from dying?

There is no definite answer to this question yet. However there are steps available (suggestions) that may help reduce aging brain decline. * Please remember all individuals are different.* What works for one person may not work for another.

In this newsletter EDL will briefly cover the makeup of the brain specifically focusing on the Neurons in the brain. We will discuss why neurons are important, why they die with age, and we will recommend some steps that may improve your brain function. EDL will mainly list some topics. It is up to you to research further, if interested.

SO WHY ARE NEURONS IN THE BRAIN IMPORTANT?

Neurons are vitally important to us because they have the ability to connect with other brain neurons. This connection establishes pathways that help us think, behave, and function. In other words, Neurons make up our brains. Without these neuron connections in the brain, our health significantly suffers. Again we will not be able to think as well, our behavior will be sporadic, and our function will be impaired. It cannot be stressed enough how important these neurons are. We cannot live without them. It is in our interest to keep them healthy.

Here is the basic make up of a neuron:

Dendrite

Soma

nucleus

Axon

Mylin sheath

Pre synaptic gap and post synaptic gap communicate/connect via neurotransmitters.

WHY DO BRAIN CELLS DIE WITH AGE?

There are multiple reasons why brain neurons die. Here are some.

Lack of use (challenging your brain)*

Chemicals (diet) example, bad fats*

Stress*

Biological (tangles, plaques) No cure. These tangles and plaques are significant because they prevent brain neurons from connecting.

Damage/accidents

WHAT CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY BRAIN FUNCTION?

You can improve neuron brain function with healthy neuronal connections. Here are some recommended steps that may help you establish more neuron connections and healthier neuron connections too.

Mental exercise (mind maps, challenge you brain)*

Relax, breath, meditate*

Diet (omega 3, less sugar, less bad fats)*

Exercise (assist chemical release in the brain allowing more communication in the brain via neurons)*

Focus (be alert, pay attention)*

Be positive (smile, set goals)*

Visualize (use your imagination)*

Sleep*

Vitamins*

EDL hopes this newsletter is helpful in some way.  Remember the brain is always changing and evolving. The neurons in your brain should become healthier and stronger if some of these recommendations are followed.
